Cargonaut’s statement regarding new data requirements from US
Cargonaut’s statement regarding new data requirements from US CBP for cargo destined to or transiting through the United States (1) can be summarized as follows.
New data requirements from US CBP communicated on August 28th can be split in:
- Data Required Pre-Loading
- Data Recommended Pre-Loading
- Additional Optional Information
Regarding 1. Data Required Pre-Loading; current IATA FHL and FWB standards have provisions to register and exchange this dataset.
Regarding 2. Data Recommended Pre-Loading; for this dataset, alignment between CBP, IATA and their users is ongoing to facilitate necessary changes. IATA handles this process with priority. Upon IATA issuing updated specifications to comply with the recommended dataset, Cargonaut will change implementations of supported/relevant message types (2) with priority to its messaging platform and update stakeholders accordingly.
Regarding 3. Additional Optional Information; for this dataset, IATA has not provided their stakeholders with additional information how to implement this dataset.
Summary: Cargonaut’s implementation complies (like most other providers) with IATA standards and thus with the required dataset. Upon updated specifications issued by IATA, Cargonaut will implement these with priority and update stakeholders accordingly. The additional optional information data set is not in scope yet. Cargonaut will follow closely IATA’s updates on how to implement this dataset.
