Secure Import is Cargonaut’s tool for advance digital notification of import shipments. Secure Import is digitally linked to the e-Registration system introduced in 2022. As such, it represents a tightening of existing security measures. The system integrates all compliance rules and provides insight into the status of shipments. Secure Import combines efficiency and compliance so that your import shipments are handled smoothly and without delay.

Secure Import features a clear RFP status interface (green or red) which enables you to see at a glance whether a shipment is available for pickup. A number of conditions must be met before RFP status turns green:

The shipment has to be automatically nominated through the Automatic Nomination process.
The shipment must be correctly registered in accordance with the PGTS protocol.
The shipment must have a Freight Status Update Notified (NFD), with confirmation by the ground handler that the shipment is available for pickup.

All pickups by freight forwarders or their carriers must be announced in advance in Secure Import, including an overview of shipments to be picked up.

As well as access to the Secure Import Portal, you can also access a Secure Import Dashboard that provides details of the data quality of your shipments, control over data completeness, and an overview of the Secure Import progress for your shipments.
