What is your function with Apex/ECMS?
Customs Compliance Manager NL and soon for our offices UK and DE. There are my new challenges and opportunities. Each country has its specific Customs rules and processes. Law and regulations will be equal in European perspective, however it can be interpreted (slightly) different.

What is the specialty of Apex/ECMS ?
“WE DELIVER PASSION” Offering logistics solutions for shippers and retailer in and outside Europe. With the focus on the Asian market, a.o. China with 1,4 trillion inhabitants a huge market. And consequently the Asian consumers: to fulfill their demand EMCS offers fully crossborder E-commerce solutions for worldwide retailers, market places en service providers. We help consumers and companies to overcome obstacles by cost efficient solutions, which save transit waiting times, offer transparancy en give trust in E-commerce procurement.

What did you want to be when you were 10 years old?
Marine Corps.

What do you like most about your current job?
The variety and working with people every day trying to achieve the common goals.

What do you do on weekends to relax?
Making music (I play drums), see my grandson play football and cooking.

What threats do you see for the logistics service?
Retailers/shippers still going to take more control of their logistics activities.

What opportunities do you see for the logistics service?
E-commerce will continue to rise the next five years, I see a lot of potential to grow. At the same time the logistics providers as specialists continue to offer added value.

If you were president of Schiphol, what would you do first?
As quickly as possible move KLM Cargo to a cargo terminal, allowing the passenger handling to be extended. And to make sure that the infrastructure for freight around Schiphol is improved.

At what place in the ranking is Schiphol cargo airport in 5 years?
I think still in the top 3 of the world.

Wat is je rol bij Apex/ECMS?
Customs Compliance Manager en binnenkort voor onze kantoren UK en DE. Daar liggen voor mij nieuwe uitdagingen en kansen. Elk land heeft toch zijn specifieke regels en processen op gebied van Douane. Wet- en regelgeving zal EU-breed gelijk zijn, maar kan toch weer (net) anders worden geïnterpreteerd.

Wat is de specialiteit van Apex/ECMS ?
“WE DELIVER PASSION” Logistieke oplossingen aanbieden voor verladers en retailers voor zowel binnen als buiten Europa. Met de focus op de Aziatisch markt o.a. China met zijn 1.4 miljard inwoners een gigantische markt. Hieruit voortvloeiende de Aziatische consument: om aan haar vraag te voorzien biedt ECMS volledige grensoverschrijdende E-commerce oplossingen voor wereldwijde retailers, marktplaatsen en dienstverleners. Wij helpen consumenten en bedrijven obstakels te overwinnen d.m.v. kosteneffectieve oplossingen, waarmee de consument een hoop transit wachttijd bespaard, transparantie en vertrouwen krijgt in E-commerce aanbestedingen.

Wat wilde je worden toen je 10 jaar was?
Corps Marinier.

Wat vindt je het leukste aan je huidige werk?
De afwisseling en het werken met mensen om elke dag de gezamenlijke doelen proberen te realiseren.

Wat doe je in het weekend om te ontspannen?
Muziek maken (ik speel slagwerk), mijn kleinzoon zien voetballen en kokkerellen.

Welke bedreigingen zie je voor de logistiek dienstverlener?
Dat retailers/verladers hun logistieke activiteiten steeds meer in eigen hand gaan nemen.

Welke kansen zie je voor de logistiek dienstverlener?
E-commerce zal de eerstkomende 5 jaren blijven stijgen, daar zie ik heel veel potentie om te groeien. Tegelijkertijd blijven logistieke dienstverleners specialisten die toegevoegde waarde kunnen bieden.

Als je directeur van Schiphol was, wat zou je dan als eerste doen?
KLM Cargo zo snel mogelijk verplaatsen van Schiphol-Centrum naar een Cargo Terminal, waardoor de passage afhandeling uitgebreid kan worden. Wel zorgen dat de infrastructuur rond en om Schiphol verbeterd wordt voor het vrachtverkeer.

Op welke plaats staat Schiphol als vrachtluchthaven over 5 jaar?
Ik denk nog steeds in Top 3 van de wereld.
